Afdhere Jama is the author of "Liido Beach," a novel set in the Mogadishu of the 1980s. His poetry books include “At Noonday with the Gods of Somalia” and “Naked Trees.” His non-fiction book include “Being Queer and Somali: LGBT Somalis At Home and Abroad” and “Queer Jihad: LGBT Muslims on Coming Out, Activism, and the Faith,” as well as “Illegal Citizens: Queer Lives in the Muslim World.” He lives in the United States.
